Job Purpose Summary:

  • The Lead Central Office Installer position is responsible for all installation work activities.

The difference between a Level IV Installer and a Lead Installer is:

  • Capable of managing crews and jobsite efficiently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and revise scope of work in an effort to manage unexpected issues.
  • Consistent success with mentoring and training of less experienced installers. Assisting management in assisting and developing team members.
  • Ability to make independent jobsite decisions that enable the work to flow with minimal disruptions to the crews and the scope of work.
  • Customer communication is always professional and helpful, held in high regard and with the best interest of the Company in mind.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Installation of cable, wiring, and telecommunications equipment in Central Office facilities. Installers are familiar with iron work/bays/equipment rack installation, DC power know-how, wire wrapping/color code understanding, blueprint, schematic reading and method of procedures.
  • Analyze, plan, layout and assign installation activity to other installation personnel.
  • Install aux bar, cable rack, and fiber duct. Mount bays, frames, cabinets and equipment within.
  • Run, lace, label and test power, fiber and copper cabling. Power cabling includes h-taps, inline splicing, and termination to BDFB.
  • Copper cabling includes DS1 wire wrapping, DSX3 BNC connections, and CAT5. Fiber cabling includes video scoping and light level testing. Cable runs can include closing of cable holes with Hilti and 3M systems.
  • Communicate with various teams on project status and issue resolution. Driving quality and cost management.
  • Communicate job specific details with co-workers routinely and effectively via both written and oral avenues.
  • Work without supervision and be certified in Skill levels 1-4.
  • Interpret, layout and analysis job Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment and wiring documentation
  • Interface with Supervisor and Engineering to resolve any order issues. Correct on site job specifications, drawings, documentation.
  • In-Charge, lead and provide work assignments for Level 1, 2 and 3 installers.
  • Dependable judgment when making decisions within your experience and training is a must, this includes knowing when to escalate the issues for assistance.
  • Capable of performing removal activities, in-process and final quality inspections.
  • Routine Audits of jobsites and tasks, both informally and formally.

Computer Experience

  • Microsoft office; proficient in Outlook and ability to work within Word and Excel.
  • Aptitude and willingness to report regularly in a time and attendance software as well as job tracking software.

Future Growth and Responsibilities

  • This position could grow to a Lead Level IV
  • Assist more with development of less experienced team members.
  • Able to lead larger or more complex projects.
  • Ability to do additional engineering tasks as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Able and willing to work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Able to work in small, awkward spaces.
  • Ability to work on ladders and at various heights.
  • Willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as required by the workload.

Travel Requirements

  • Out of town travel Monday – Friday is the normal.
  • Some weekends will be required.
  • A nightly per diem is offered for overnight stays.
  • Use of Company Vehicle and Fuel card.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain Driver’s License (including State endorsements for vehicle/combo >10,000lbs but < 26,000lbs) and DOT Medical Certification.

Building a video streaming site with a paywall

How To Build a Video Streaming Website

One of our clients produces quite a bit of media and has some plans to, well, produce more media in the future. We’ve been brainstorming on coming up with a way to distribute the content and then being able to manage and monetize that content.  And as a result building a video streaming website became a possibility, and then I decided I’d write my notes on “How to build video streaming website”.

We looked at a couple of solutions such as Cleeng, and honestly, Cleeng just does not have the user friendly interface or controls that we were looking for, and the cost can be relatively prohibitive (they do have what is essentially a pay as you go option).

I began messing around with WordPress and doing some research on what some other people have used to successfully build a streaming website, and I came across Memberful.   Memeberful has a great article on how to integrate with WordPress websites to protect your content, and you can check that out here.  One thing of note is that they integrate pretty well with Squarespace, which is also one of my favorite platforms.

However, really all you need to do is sign up for a trial to Memberful, select that you are integrating Memberful with WordPress and they’ll give you a code to input into the Memberful plug in.


Step-by-Step instructions

What you need: WordPress website, Memberful account, and a content distribution site (Ie, Vimeo or YouTube).

  1.  Install the Memberful plug in on your wordpress website
  2. Embed your video content on whatever pages you’d like
  3. Sign up for Memberful
  4. Enter the code from your Memberful subscription into the plug in on your website
  5. Manually edit each page’s restrictions and messages.

For instance, if you go to and select any of the “Videos” page, you’ll see a message saying that “This content is protect” “Sign up here” etc.  Note: Don’t sign up.  Seriously, don’t.

And that’s really all there is on how to build a video streaming website.

Memberful’s prices are very competitive as well.  I have not been able to find another platform that is as easy to use and cost effective.

A Social Media Tip

With more than one billion daily Facebook users, 300 million daily Instagram users, and then Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn (among many, many more), businesses cannot afford to not incorporate social media management into their growth strategies.   Social media management (or SMM), can be time consuming and quite costly with no return on investment if not done correctly. While there are a number of expensive platforms out there that allow for a business to schedule and manage much of their posts (we do sell some of those solutions, such as Infusionsoft and Hubspot), the content still has to be created and those platforms don’t inform as to buyer personas and where along the buyer’s journey a potential customer is.  Working with us allows businesses to have greater insight into their social media.
